Established in 1970, the Gold Coast Fishermen's Co-Operative was one of the first developments on the Spit at Main Beach.

For decades trawlers caught and sold their local catch to providers in the seafood industry. In 2005, the Co-Operative sought approval from the Gold Coast City Council Health and began selling their catch direct to the public from the boat at the best possible price.

Over the years the number of trawlers selling direct has grown to a fleet of 12; consisting of Prawn TrawlersTuna Long Liners and a Spanner Crab Vessel. Every day the boats leave late in the evening, trawl through the night and return in the morning loaded up with the freshest seafood available, selling directly from their boats. You’re actually buying from the locals that made the catch only a few hours earlier!

With new pontoons providing easy access to the trawlers, the Fishermen’s Co-Operative is the best place to get the freshest seafood in the Gold Coast. Straight from the sea, to the boat, to you – the only way you could get fresher seafood is if you caught it yourself (and have you ever tried to catch a prawn?)

Fresh prawns, good size, locally caught, very cheap compared to anywhere.
